While I effort to list the cameras I utilize for each photo that I mail service to this web log, information technology doesn't tell the whole story since the lenses and tech gear I utilise also play an integral part in the creation process. I have been in an incredible partnership with Sony since the beginning of 2013 which has given me access to some actually phenomenal gear. If you wish to read more than about this partnership, you can read well-nigh information technology in my PR Section.

My electric current gear list for 2014:
Cameras
Sony a7R
This is my current master camera. I use it for the bulk of my travel photography likewise as all of my client photography on location in New York City. At 36 MP, the files are admittedly enormous and the paradigm quality is the best I accept e'er seen. It's made me and my clients very, very happy.
Sony a6000
This camera accompanies me on all of my travel photography assignments. I shoot a lot of street photography with information technology considering it has i of the fastest focus systems on the market currently. When people enquire me near why I beloved it, my quick response is: it's just ridiculously fun to apply! The files are also enormous and I accept used quite a few images taken with this camera for client shoots as well.
Sony a7S
A camera that can see in the night? Sounds ludicrous? It'south not. This camera has powerful depression-light capabilities. Imagine shooting at 50,000 ISO with barely any noise. The fact that this is possible with this camera still blows my mind on a regular basis.
Lenses
Sony 24-70mm F4 Vario-Tessar T* FE Lens
A solid choice for a zoom lens. This lens is a Sony Zeiss lens and the Zeiss quality shines. Shooting with this lens and the a7R produces sharp images that are slap-up to piece of work with.
Sony sixteen-35mm Vario-Tessar T FE F4 Lens
Ane of the best wide lenses out at that place. Hands downward. Sharpness from corner to corner, very little distortion at 16mm and incredible clarity. There'south not much more than that I can say. This is one of my favorite lenses. I apply information technology for everything from New York Urban center photography to all the different types of travel photography that I do.
My gear listing for the majority of 2013:
Cameras
Sony A99
This was my principal camera for all of 2013 and what I shot the bulk of photos featured in my New York coffee table volume: NY Through The Lens. It's a total-frame photographic camera with 24.iii MP resolution and its low light functioning is one of its biggest strengths as well every bit its dynamic range. I used this camera for the bulk of my client shoots likewise equally the majority of my long-exposure New York City photography.
Sony QX100 Smartphone Attachable Lens-style Camera
This is a lens and sensor all in one that you tin control with your smartphone. I think it is the future of mobile photography. It'south device agnostic and works on near Android and iOS devices. The image quality is insanely proficient since it has a 20 MP sensor with a Zeiss f/1.8 lens attached. If yous are curious about photos I have taken with it and my thoughts most this camera, check out this mail service I made: Hands on with the Sony QX100. There is an zipper that allows yous to put it on the back of your phone simply you tin can also hold it like this or at different angles and you can even put it on a tripod or sit information technology down while using your phone to take photos with it. I would say that this device is a must-have for any mobile photography enthusiast every bit well equally someone who wants to have high quality images using their smartphone.
Sony QX10 Smartphone Attachable Lens-Manner Camera
This device is related to the device above. It is the aforementioned blazon of device in that you lot can attach information technology to your smartphone (or disassemble it and still use your smartphone to control information technology). What's different about it? It's a lower cost and information technology has an 18 MP sensor with 10x optical zoom. It too works nigh Android and iOS devices.
Sony NEX-6
This was my chief walking-around all-purpose camera during 2013. Information technology'southward a mirrorless photographic camera with sixteen.1 MP resolution and wifi capability. The wifi capability alone is pretty awesome. You can essentially shoot and and so transfer your photos to your smartphone or reckoner over wifi. Y'all can also share directly to Facebook from the photographic camera itself via ane of its free apps. Bated from that, the camera is super light-weight (this is an understatement) but packs a dial in terms of image quality.
Sony NEX-5R
I started using this Sony NEX camera after I had already fallen in love with the Sony NEX-6. The specs are like to the NEX-6. Information technology'south a mirrorless camera with 16.1 MP resolution and full wifi capability. So, you get the same great wifi functionality, access to apps, and ability to share to your smartphone, figurer, and Facebook. Even so, the cardinal difference between the NEX-6 and the NEX-5R is the touchscreen. I find the touchscreen on the NEX-5R to exist really great and an intuitive way to access carte functions.
Sony NEX-7
This is a super tiny photographic camera that packs a huge prototype quality punch. Just similar the other cameras in the NEX line, the NEX-seven is a mirrorless camera. Withal, the NEX-vii has a 24.3 megapixel sensor which is great if you are looking to maximize your resolution needs while also enjoying the use of a photographic camera that is tinier and lighter than about cameras that shoot at such a high resolution. The controls on the NEX-7 are also a bit different than the other NEX cameras I have listed here and unlike the NEX-vi and NEX-5R, the NEX-7 does non have wifi capability. I would recommend this camera if you lot are looking for extremely high image quality for press while also wanting to enjoy the freedom and flexibility of a mirrorless camera.
Lenses
Blastoff Lenses… (Curlicue down further for E-Mount lenses to use with Sony NEX cameras)
Sony 24 -70mm f/2.8 Carl Zeiss Vario Sonnar T Zoom Lens
This was my primary lens that I used with the Sony a99. I truly believe this is one of the best Blastoff lenses out there. I used this lens for the majority of my customer shoots and for all of my long exposure nighttime photos of New York City. It's an extremely high functioning lens. It's great for everything from portraiture to landscapes and is strikingly sharp.
Sony 100mm f/2.8 Macro Lens
The 100mm Macro Lens is a great lens to take in your drove especially if you lot are looking to experiment with macro photography. This is an Alpha lens which I used with the Sony A99. This lens is great for close-up nature photography, food photography, as well as portraiture.
Sony 85mm f1.4 Carl Zeiss Planar T Coated Telephoto Lens
The 85mm Zeiss lens for Sony is probably one of the best portraiture lenses for the Blastoff line. I take used this for client shoots requiring portraiture since this lens actually excels at this type of photography. What I dearest the most most this lens is the super creamy bokeh. Subjects in focus are tack sharp and the overall paradigm quality is exceptional.
Sony 11-18mm f/4.five-5.vi Aspherical ED Super Wide Angle Zoom Lens
This is a great broad angle Alpha lens that shines when used with the Sony A77. It's not bad for architecture photography and for fun photography of scenic landscapes since y'all are able to get an extremely wide field of view. I discover the image quality is good and the consequence is fairly middle-popping especially for cityscapes and skylines.
Sony 18-250mm f/iii.v-6.3 High Magnification Zoom Lens
This is a groovy lens to pair with the Sony A77. Information technology'southward a nice upgrade to the typical kit lens since it is an all purpose zoom lens. With any zoom lens, you will experience slight softness at the extreme ends of the range since this is an inherent limitation that occurs with zoom lenses. So, while you will be able to zoom to 250mm, there will be softness. That said, I find that the prototype quality is precipitous when y'all are not at the farthermost ends of the zoom and it's a relatively fast lens! I would recommend this lens for travel since you lot will get the best bang for your buck.
Sony 35mm f/i.8 A-mountain Wide Angle Lens
I like to refer to this lens every bit the "must-accept lens for street photography". It's an Alpha lens and is relatively inexpensive compared to other prime lenses. Paired with the Sony A77, the image quality is admittedly spectacular. The field of view is perfect for street photography and the depression-light performance of this lens is great.
Sony 50mm f/1.eight Lens
This was one of the first prime lenses I purchased for myself and I still consider it one of the best purchases I have always fabricated. It's super cheap and nevertheless the quality of the images produced by this lens is outstanding. I happen to love the bokeh that this lens produces and it's also a super tiny lens. It's great for potraiture and I recommend this lens all of the time to people beginning to explore the world of photography.
E-Mount Lenses…
Sony Carl Zeiss Sonnar T* E 24mm F1.8 ZA Lens for Sony NEX Cameras
This is one of my absolute favorite lenses to apply with the NEX line-upwards of cameras. Even wide-open, I take constitute the results to exist very, very abrupt. I have used this lens to shoot everything from long-exposure nighttime photography (added bonus: the blades produce the well-nigh beautiful star-like effect on lights when using this for long-exposures), to street photography, to landscape photography. Because it is an exceptional prime number lens, I also find it to be wonderful in low-lite situations with the NEX cameras. It takes the already good image quality produced by the various sensors in the NEX cameras and pumps it up a few notches.
Sony 18-200mm F3.v-6.3 E-Mount Lens
This is a great upgrade to the kit lens. I use this lens quite a fleck with my NEX cameras considering it is actually versatile. I too find that even at 200mm, the paradigm quality remains adept (relatively speaking since this is a zoom lens and the extreme ends of magnification will e'er be soft). It is a large lens to pair with the NEX cameras and I volition say that the zoom ring is a little potent when y'all start utilise this lens. However, after some usage, the zoom band seems to become easier to manipulate. I would highly recommend this lens as a travel lens as it'southward a wonderful walk-around lens due to its range.
Sony 16mm f/2.eight Wide-Angle Lens for NEX Series Cameras
This is a fantastically fun lens to pair with whatever NEX camera. Information technology's super, super tiny and at f/2.8, it is besides a great depression-light lens. I like to employ this lens for street photography and for night shooting in the city. Because information technology is and then small and light, it'south a joy to utilize. I would recommend it for anyone looking for a corking wide-angle prime lens.
